Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology faculty and students present at national convention

Several faculty and students from the Department of Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology presented at the national convention of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) which was held on November 17-19, 2011 in San Diego California.

• Associate Professor Luanne Andersson presented a poster titled “The Text-Picture Relationship in Picture Storybook Narratives”
• Clinical Assistant Professor Mary Pitti presented a poster titled “From AAC to Z-Ratios: iDevice apps for Assessment and Intervention”
• Clinical Assistant Professor Susan Durnford held a seminar "The ABCs of Getting College Students to Read"
• Clinical Associate Professor Marie Sanford, along with current graduate students Katherine Jensen, Amanda Franks, and Margaret Showman, presented a poster titled “Experiential Modules in Teaching CLD: The Missing Link”
• Assistant Professor Skott Freedman presented two posters, “Effects of Neighborhood Density on Adult Word Repetition”, as well as “Rise in Autism Prevalence: Diagnostic Considerations”, with current undergraduate student Andie Scott

Current graduate students Valerie Daly and Melissa Gardner, completed case studies under the direction of Assistant Professor Yvonne Rogalski. They presented posters on the following topics:

• Valerie Daly presented "Tell Me About It": Targeting Wernicke's Word-Finding With Discourse Treatment”
• Melissa Gardner presented “Attentive Reading & Constrained Summarization Therapy in Chronic Wernicke's Aphasia”
