The Martin Luther King Jr. Holiday will be celebrated in 2012 at IC during the first week of classes, January 23-28, 2012 (as the Federal holiday falls this year prior to the return of students). MLK Week 2012 marks the 17th annual Ithaca College community celebration of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and his teachings.

The MLK Week planning committee is proud to announce the 2012 MLK Week theme:  A New Definition of Greatness.

“If you want to be great – wonderful. But recognize that he who is greatest among you shall be your servant. That’s a new definition of greatness…it means that everybody can be great, because everybody can serve.” - Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., from the “Drum Major Instinct" sermon, given on February 4, 1968

Below you will find a schedule of great events during the week.  More details to come!

the opportunity to express themselves using words, much like MLK, Jr. did in his letter from Birmingham Jail.  The event will span generations, from typewriters to twitter accounts.  Music and food will add to the lively atmosphere of this event!
