Rory Cooper (2012), Sophia Chawala (2015), and Kelson Goldine (2015) from the Communication Studies Department in H&S will present their work at the 2012 NCUR conference. Their scholarship was chosen through a blind review process at Weber State University in Ogden, Utah, where the conference will be held in March.
Rory Cooper’s paper is titled, "Catching the Wave of Change: A Case Study into One Small Organization Trying to Redefine the Idea of ‘Nature’ through Outdoor Education with Urban Chile." Based on a semester-long visit to Chile, this work will also be presented in February at the Wildness Education Association meeting in Denver, CO.
Sophia Chawala’s essay is titled, "Eradication of the Notion of the Past- The Impacts of Communication Technology on Our Perceptions of Memory and Time." This work was begun in Introduction to Culture and Communication, a course taught by her advisor, Dr. Donathan Brown.
Kelson Goldfine, another advisee of Dr. Donathan Brown, also began her project in Introduction to Culture and Communication. Kelson’s is titled “The Walmart Community.”
