Janet Galvan, School of Music Professor, Performs at International Festival of the Aegean, Named "Festival of the Year in Greater Greece"  by the Music and Critics Association of Athens

The Festival was singled out from 125 competing Festivals for this award.  It is a major distinction, honoring the performances of Peter Tiboris, Renato Zanella, Janet Galvan, Earl Rivers, Tim Sharp, Olympia Dukakis, and Eilana Lappalainen, during July 2011.

Dr. Janet Galván, Professor of Music at Ithaca College, conducts the Ithaca College Women's Chorale, the Ithaca College Chorus, and is Artistic Director for the Ithaca Children's Choir. Her New York colleagues recognized Dr. Galván’s contribution to choral music in 1995 when she received the American Choral Directors Association (ACDA) New York Outstanding Choral Director Award.  In 2010, she founded the chorus UNYC which has performed with the Cayuga Chamber Orchestra (Lanfranco Marcelleti, conductor).  Galván is the founder and faculty advisor of the Ithaca College ACDA Student Chapter.  This chapter has won Outstanding Student Chapter at the last three national conventions of ACDA.
