Note from Director Nikki R. Veit:

The Vagina Monologues has always been a global movement to end violence against women and young girls. When Eve Ensler first wrote these monologues in 1994, she had met with over 200 women from around the world and listened to their personal experiences. These monologues are these women’s memories. At times both heartbreaking and beautiful, these stories are true experiences that must be explored.

This year, we will embark on the immortal journey of telling the realities that are The Vagina Monologues. Our goal: continuing the struggle to end violence against women and young girls by inspiring an audience to listen, feel, and act. How will we do this? By making these stories come to life. We will dive head on into every emotion presented throughout this sensational show, whether they be tragic, heartbreaking, sickening, or even hysterical. We must embrace every feeling. We must let these monologues, these women, shine through us, and in so doing, we will impress upon the audience their need to respond. As a cast, you will become these women, feel their inner-beings, and create a reality for yourself as you tell their stories. If our goal is to move an audience by showing them the gut-wrenching worlds of these women, we must first start with ourselves, and feel the eternal struggle of these women.

We will work endlessly to not only strengthen our bond as a cast and crew, but also our bond as women, free to express our own stories and experiences. This will be a journey of creativity, theatricality, and reality, not to mention femininity. Join me in making the 2012 V-Day The Vagina Monologues a truly remarkable experience! Say yes to Vaginas!
