The Sustainability Café on Monday, February 27th will feature Ruth Tonachel from the Northern Tier Cultural Alliance speaking on “When Home Becomes a Boom Town and a Gas Rush Happens…” The Café will be held in Center for Natural Sciences Room 112 at 4:00PM.
Ruth Tonachel is a self-employed writer, editor, folklorist, researcher, and consultant with focus on agriculture and local culture. Tonachel is the sixth generation of her family to live on, co-own, and manage land that is now one of the largest unleased tracts in Bradford County, PA. She recently became executive director of the Northern Tier Cultural Alliance, a folk arts and local culture support center located in Towanda PA. Tonachel holds degrees in American Studies, Rural Studies, with additional studies in agriculture.
