$90,000 for 90 years of advancing the common good

There are many who may have intended to return the pledge card- but- lost sight of the card, the date, the evidence that the need is greater than ever before. Floods, tornados, unemployment and rising prices have had a far larger impact on our community this year.  Many families and friends, who may never before have needed assistance, find themselves in tight situations.

On February 14th, United Way of Tompkins County kicked off the final phase of the Campaign “$90,000 for 90 years of advancing the common good”. Perhaps you have already seen the increase in print ads and media messaging related to this final “push” as the 2012 UWTC Campaign nears a close. In yesterday’s news release the statement is made that “People have seen that the needs are real, and have demonstrated their continuing confidence in United Way to help make a needed difference. “

 

We are very grateful for gifts received to date, but, we need to be certain that the opportunity to donate reaches everyone, including those that have already made a gift and may be able to make an additional gift. Help Ithaca College reach our campaign goal!

 

Please consider the following:

A gift of $90.00 will fund:

Basic Needs - $90 will provide 25 boxes of food, enough for 78 people to eat nine meals from the Caroline Food Pantry through the Brooktondale Community Center.

Child Care & Early Education - $90 will provide 36 children spots in the School Readiness Program, Reading in the Lady Bug Garden, through the Dryden Community Council.

Crisis Services - $90 will provide online crisis counseling services for 6 youth through the Suicide Prevention & Crisis Center.

Financial Stability & Building Self-Sufficiency - $90 will allow 11 participants to attend Disability Awareness Programs through the Finger Lakes Independence Center.

Health & Environment - $90 will provide 5 free prescriptions to non-insured patients through the Urgent Rx Prescription Program.

Seniors - $90 will provide 4 older adults the opportunity to participate in multiple county programs through Lifelong.

Youth - $90 will provide 2 homeless youth the opportunity to participate in the Youth Outreach Program at The Learning Web.

 

Donors may easily give online at www.uwtc.org donor page.  Donations made at this site will be counted as part of our Ithaca College UWTC Campaign contribution.
