Pianist Mia Hynes of the University of Central Missouri is visiting Ithaca College February 23-24 as a guest of the IC Collegiate Chapter of Music Teachers National Association (MTNA). Dr. Hynes made her professional debut with the Indianapolis Symphony at age 12. She has earned degrees from the Eastman School of Music and Indiana University and has studied with Menahem Pressler, Nelita True, and Leonard Hokanson. She also took first prize in the National Federation of Music Clubs Young Artist Awards in 1995.
Dr. Hynes will give a solo piano recital at 7 p.m on Thursday, February 23 and a masterclass with performances from IC MTNA members on Friday, February 24 at 3 p.m. The recital and masterclass will take place in Hockett Family Recital Hall in the James J. Whalen Center for Music. Admission is free and open to the public.
