Orthodox Jews and Eating Disorders - TONIGHT!

Join Hillel, The Center for Health Promotion and Active Minds for an event you will not want to miss!! On Monday, February 27th at 7pm come to Emerson A for a program about Orthodox Jews and Eating Disorders.

Documentary followed by Panel discussion!

The movie, "Hungry to be Heard" is a documentary about the rising rates of Eating Disorders in the Orthodox Jewish community. "Over the past several years, societal pressures with regard to body image have contributed to a dramatic increase in eating disorders in the Jewish community. “Hungry to be Heard” is an absorbing documentary that focuses on the rising rates of anorexia, bulimia, and other eating disorders in our community. It is aimed at providing education regarding awareness, prevention, and treatment of eating disorders"


After this, a panel of four individuls will lead about a 30 minute discussion and then take 15 minutes for discussion and questions. The panelists include Alice Meilman from CAPS, Dr. Vivian Lorenzo from Hammond Health Center, Cathy Saloff-Coste an IC Nutrition Consultant and Lauren Benfante from Cornell who is in recovery from an eating disorder.
