The Handwerker Gallery invites the Ithaca College community to the opening reception of Voices: Truth, Identity, and Art in Africa on Thursday, March 1, from 5.00-7.00 p.m..

Curated by Ithaca College museology students, the exhibition highlights the distinguished collection of Johannes and Aimee Lehmann. Pivotal to the development of the Lehmanns' collection is their personal relationship with the work. By sharing this collection with the Handwerker Gallery, the Lehmanns hope that others may discover the same connection.

An illustrated catalogue written by the student curators accompanies the exhibition.  A series of events have been planned in conjunction with the exhibition; information on these can be found at  https://www.ithaca.edu/handwerker/g/upcoming_events/.  All Handwerker events are free and open to the public.

Guided tours of the exhibition by student-curators can be booked by contacting Cheryl Kramer at ckramer@ithaca.edu.

The exhibition will run through April 5.  The gallery is open Monday through Friday, 10 a.m.–6 p.m. (Thursday until 9 p.m.); Saturday and Sunday, noon–5 p.m.  The gallery is closed on Tuesdays.  For further information on the exhibition or the Handwerker Gallery, or individuals with disabilities requiring accommodations please contact Mara Baldwin at mbaldwin@ithaca.edu or 607.274.7057.
