Fulbright in your future? Attention juniors and seniors!

If you are a second-semester junior, or a current senior, now is the time to begin thinking about the possibility of a Fulbright application for the 2013-14 academic year.

Fulbright awards fund study or teaching abroad, and they are available to students in every discipline. Research awards require applicants to develop a research project to be completed in the host country. English Teaching Assistantships (ETAs) do not require a full-blown research project; rather, students commit to serving as a teaching assistant in an English language class in the host country. The ETA application is relatively simple, no prior teaching experience is necessary, and students of any major are eligible and encouraged to apply. Fulbright ETAs are available in countries across the globe. Last year 21 Ithaca College students applied for Fulbright grants, and 7 of those have made it to the finalist stage.

Applications are due in mid-September, but now is the time to start planning! Make an appointment with Hugh Egan (eganh@ithaca.edu), faculty liaison for external grants and awards, to find out more.
