IC Students for Justice in Palestine, along with other individuals and campus organizations, is hosting a 1 day Hunger Strike in solidarity with Palestinians who have been imprisoned without being charged or convicted of a crime.
Many of the Palestinians being held under Israel’s administrative detention policies, which permit detention without conviction in a court or even being charged of a crime, are children and women.
Currently, 28-year-old Hana Shalabi, a political prisoner who has not been charged with a crime, is on a hunger strike she began on February 16th. She has gone over 30 days without eating.
We invite you to stand in solidarity against the illegal detention of prisoners and with Hana Shalabi by participating in a 24 hour hunger strike beginning at sunrise on Wednesday, March 28th. During this time we will drink water as the prisoners on strike have, but not eat food or non-water liquids. We invite those participating in our solidarity hunger strike to break fast with us at a breakfast in Taughannock Falls Room from 9-10 a.m. on Thursday, March 29th.
Individuals wishing to participate should contact ICSJP at sjpithaca@gmail.com
