On Sunday, May 20, 2012, Ithaca College’s 117th Commencement exercises will be held. Many of us have had daily contact with the fine young men and women of the 2012 graduation class, and have played an important role in their experience at Ithaca College.
To ensure that the Commencement exercises are carried out in an orderly, distinguished manner, we are requesting your help to serve as a Guest Usher. This function is vital as many guests are not familiar with the College, its buildings and their location. The duties will vary according to your specific assignment. Program distribution, guest seating, answering questions and providing directions are all responsibilities that you could be called upon to do to help create the most positive experience possible for family and guests. Please note that this is a different ushering position than Brian Scholten, Registrar, posted in February. If you have signed up to work with Brian for Commencement as a Field Usher, please DO NOT sign up for this position. If you have questions regarding the two positions, please call (ext. 3374) or e-mail Suzanne Smith at sdsmith@ithaca.edu.
If you are willing to help by working as a Guest Usher on this special day, please go to:
http://ithaca.edu/commencement/usher/ and submit your form. You will receive a confirmation e-mail shortly after submitting your information. Please submit by Friday, April 30, 2012.
Positions will be filled on a first come first served basis. Non-exempt/ hourly employees who assist in this event will be paid time and a half based on their 37.5 hour work week by the Office of Student Affairs and Campus Life. Your help is very much appreciated.
