Deborah Nawoczenski PT, PhD, Professor in the Department of Physical Therapy, is a Co-Principal Investigator on a grant with Benedict DiGiovanni MD from the University of Rochester Department of Orthopaedics, that has received the prestigious Louis A. and Mildred M. Goldstein Award from the Department of Orthopaedics at the UofR .
The project is titled: ”Biomechanical and Muscle Morphological Biomarkers of Foot Function following Gastrocnemius Recession for Achilles Tendinopathy”. This study will evaluate muscle atrophy, strength, endurance and functional outcomes in patients who receive a unique surgical intervention to relieve pain associated with chronic Achilles tendinitis/opathy.
Physical performance measures will be evaluated at Ithaca College's Movement Analysis Laboratory and Center for Foot and Ankle Research.
