As you probably know 10,000 Saints, written by Ithaca College Department of Writing faculty member Eleanor Henderson, is our 2012-2013 selection for the First Year Reading Initiative. We are now in the planning stages of what is shaping up to be an exciting full year of co-curricular activities.

The first set of activities includes small group student discussions, which will take place just before classes start on the morning of August 28th during the annual Fall Welcome for First Year Students. We are now looking for staff, faculty, administrator, and alumni volunteers who are interested in facilitating these discussions with our new students.

If you are interested in volunteering to be a discussion facilitator during Fall Welcome, please sign up here.   For more information about Eleanor's amazing book or the FYRI Fall Welcome please click here.

As we have done for the past several years we will have optional summer afternoon conversations about the book in late July - early August.   I am very pleased to announce that this year these conversations will be moderated by Chris Holmes (English) and Nick Kowalczyk (Writing).

Please stay tuned for more announcements about the 2012 - 2013 FYRI calendar.  If you are interested in proposing a book related activity or discussion for the calendar or if you have any questions about the FYRI please contact Shaianne Osterreich, Associate Director of the Integrated Core Curriculum.
