It is with a great deal of personal and professional regret that I announce that Laurie Ward, director of client marketing services, has accepted a position as chief marketing officer with Delaware Valley College in Doylestown, Pennsylvania. Her last day here will be June 5.

Laurie has been a tremendous resource for the Office of Marketing Communications, and her work overseeing the team of marketing communications managers (MCMs) and Sports Information has touched every academic and administrative operation at the college.

Laurie has been with Ithaca College nearly eight years. She came aboard as an MCM in June 2004, after having served as the public relations director at the Babe Ruth Birthplace and Museum in Baltimore and as manager of communications and audience research for the Rochester Museum & Science Center. She was promoted to manager of marketing services in 2007, and held down the fort as interim director of marketing communications for Ithaca College for eight months prior to my arrival in June 2010. In 2011 she was named director of Client Marketing Services.

Laurie has overseen projects ranging from the redesign of the Division of Student Affairs and Campus Life website to all Commencement-related print and electronic publications. In 2009, she co-chaired the 2009 Rod Serling Conference, and in 2011 led the marketing efforts for the National Conference on Undergraduate Research, held on campus in March of that year. By all accounts, it was one of the most successful NCUR events ever. She was a member of the five member strategic team that helped shape, launch and guide the implementation of the new Ithaca College brand identity in the fall of 2011. And she has been instrumental in implementing the current MCM model, with marketing communications managers for each school and administrative offices.

Laurie has been very involved in the Big Brothers Big Sisters program and has served as advisor to the IC Bigs student organization for the past six years as adviser to the IC Bigs student organization.

I hope you can join us at a reception on May 31 from 2-4pm in the Taughannock Falls room in the Campus Center to wish her well in her new position at Delaware Valley College.
