Jazz Studies director Mike Titlebaum recently completed the recording of eight of his arrangements and original compositions for large jazz ensemble.
Part of the goal of the project was to collaborate between Ithaca College and the Eastman School of Music. To that end, the group was comprised of a combination of faculty, students and alumni of Ithaca and Eastman. Ithaca faculty included Titlebaum on saxophone, bass professor Nicholas Walker, and drum set instructor Greg Evans. Ithaca alumni included clarinetist Emily Pecoraro (B. MUED '12) and saxophonist Jason Juliano (B. MUED '12). Several Eastman faculty members, students and alumni were also in the ensemble.
Titlebaum expects to complete mixing and editing the CD this summer, and that the finished CD will be released by record label Fleur de Son Jazz in the late fall or winter.
