From the Thailand Philharmonic website

During the closing concert of the Thailand International Composition Festival, the Thailand Philharmonic Orchestra will present outstanding works of the contemporary idiom by the featured guest composers (Zhou Long, Eric Moe, Xiaogang Ye, and Narong Prangcharoen) of TICF. In addition several of the guest performers of the festival – including members of the featured ensemble, the Tetris Quartet – will present concerto performances, to the delight of the audience.

The concert will include the 2011 Pulitzer Prize winning composer Zhou Long’s concerto for flute and orchestra, Five Elements. The solo performance for this work will feature the internationally acclaimed Italian flutist, Luisa Sello. Eric Moe, the composer the NY Times describes as creating “…music of winning exuberance,” will present his fantastic work, No Time Like the Present, which is certain to captivate the audience. Also a guest of the conference, Xiaogang Ye is considered one of the most important Chinese composers of his generation. His spectacular work Winter will provide a unique, magical world of sound. Narong Prangcharoen, one of the most exciting and internationally recognized composers from Thailand will present his new work, Illuminations. The wonderful violinist, Pauline Kim Harris will perform John Zorn’s enticing Les Contes des Fees. For an adventure into the world of jazz and classical fusion, listeners will relish Dave Chesky’s Double Concerto for violin, cello and string orchestra, performed by the phenomenal cellist, Dave Eggar and riveting violinist, Rachel Golub.

All of these works will receive their Southeast Asian premiere during this concert, by the TPO. The varied and inspiring works on the program provide the rare opportunity to absorb some of the most engaging music of today.
