The following is submitted on behalf of Dr. Margaret Arnold, Special Assistant to the Provost:
As you know, every new faculty hire is about the future of our individual programs, schools, and the institution as a whole. It is critical that every faculty candidate who interviews on campus understands how much we value the work they will be doing if they join the IC community. It is equally important that we ensure that everyone we hire will support the needs and goals of the department and school into which they are hired, and also the needs and goals of the College overall.
As such, and especially with respect to increasing the diversity of our faculty and in support of IC 20/20 more broadly, the Provost has implemented a new hiring policy for faculty finalists. All tenure-eligible (TE) and continuing non-tenure-eligible (NTEN) faculty candidates must be scheduled to meet with Dr. Margaret Arnold, Special Assistant to the Provost (or an alternate representative from the Provost’s Office), for 30 minutes during their on-campus interview. Interviews should be scheduled by contacting MaryAnn Taylor, Assistant to the Provost, at 274-3113. Because this is so important to the ongoing success of Ithaca College, this policy is effective immediately. Proposed offers to candidates who have not interviewed in the Provost office will not be approved.
Please feel free to contact Margie Arnold (marnold@ithaca.edu) should you have questions.
