The Handwerker Gallery is pleased to present an artist talk with Dara Engler, the newly-minted faculty member with the Department of Art.  Please join us at the gallery on Thursday, August 30, at 6.00 p.m. for a presentation of her work called "Good Girls Gone Feral," to learn more about her creative (and undomesticated!) practice.

Dara Engler received her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in painting from the University of New Hampshire and her Master of Fine Arts degree from Indiana University, Bloomington.  She was awarded a Joan Mitchell Foundation MFA Grant in 2007, followed by a recipient group show at the Cue Art Foundation in New York, NY in 2008.  Dara was accepted into issue No. 88 of New American Paintings and Volume 6 of Manifest’s International Drawing Annual.  After receiving a fellowship and a grant from the Louisiana Division of the Arts, she attended a month-long residency at the Vermont Studio Center.  She just arrived at Ithaca College to teach painting as Assistant Professor of Art, after four years at the University of Louisiana at Monroe.

All Handwerker Gallery events are free and open to the public. Gallery hours are Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, 10 a.m. to 6.00 p.m.; Thursday, 10.00 a.m. to 9.00 p.m.; and weekends, noon to 5.00 p.m.. The gallery is closed to the public on Tuesdays unless otherwise specified for an event but can accommodate group or class visits by appointment.
