Ithaca College has been included on the Campus Pride list of the 25 colleges and universities whose policies, programs and practices are most friendly to lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) students. The list was compiled by Campus Pride in partnership with The Huffington Post.
“Each has demonstrated in policy, program and practice inclusion and safety for LGBT and ally student populations,” said Campus Pride executive director Shane Windmeyer of the top 25.“ Other institutions earning a spot in the top 25 included Cornell University, Stanford University, University of Michigan, University of Pennsylvania, Oberlin College and Carleton College. Campus Pride is the nation’s leading educational organization for student leaders and campus groups working to create a safer college environment for LGBT students. Launched in 2007, the Campus Pride Index rates institutions from one to five stars, depending on their answers to a detailed, voluntary questionnaire. For the third consecutive year, IC earned a five-star rating in the index. Campus Pride has previously listed IC as being one of the top-10 trans-friendly colleges and universities and having one of the nation’s 10 most LGBT-friendly college sports programs.
