The Sustainability Café on Monday, October 1st will feature Dr. Tom Pfaff from the Ithaca College department of Mathematics exploring the question: “Mathematician or Environmentalist?” The Sustainability Café will be held in Center for Natural Sciences Room 112 at 4:00PM in conjunction with the Environmental Seminar.
Tom Pfaff ’90 graduated from Ithaca College with a B.S. in Exercise Science. He completed a second B.S. in Mathematics at SUNY Cortland and obtained his Masters degree and Ph.D. from Syracuse University. Pfaff has gained national recognition for his work integrating sustainability and real-world information into his teaching of Calculus I and freshman statistics, keeping these introductory math courses applied and concrete for students.
This event is free and open to the public.
“Teachable edibles” – local, organic and/or seasonal snacks – for the Fall 2012 Sustainability Café series are being sponsored by Ithaca College Dining Services whose motto is “Sustainability – Healthy – Fresh.” Please bring your reusable mug and fill up at the nearest drinking fountain or provide your own beverage of choice.
