The Business Idea Competition is back and will be holding a kickoff meeting on Thursday, September 6, at 6 p.m., in Business 111.

Open to all Ithaca College students, this is your chance to win $5,000 for your idea - and, more importantly, kick-start a viable business with the support of fellow students, faculty, staff, and alumni. An additional $5,000 per company will be awarded to those that meet milestones for actually creating a company, with a total possible purse of $55,000.

With the help of School of Business alumnus Chris Burch '76, along with the School of Business and local entrepreneurs, you have the opportunity to jumpstart your entrepreneurial endeavors.

Students will have the opportunity to attend weekly coaching sessions Thursday evenings throughout the competition. Sessions include; How to Brainstorm, Narrowing the Field, How to Structure Your Pitch, How to Identify Gaps and Address them and Presentation Skills.

The competition builds a culture of possibility, action and innovation which ultimately builds great future employees or business owners.

Twelve teams will be selected as finalists, where they will present their business idea to a panel of judges. In early November, an awards reception will be held where winners will be announced. View the entire schedule here.
