Short-term international opportunities are an important component of the study abroad options available to Ithaca College students. College faculty and staff members have successfully lead programs and research opportunities over the past few years in a number of different locations, including China, Cyprus, the Dominican Republic, Ecuador, England, Ghana, India, Italy, Malawi, Scotland, and Turkey.

Faculty and staff members can find information on College policy and procedure regarding international travel with students in the publication Procedures for Developing and Implementing Short-term Study and Educational Travel Abroad at Ithaca College.

Proposal process
The first step in proposing to travel abroad with students is to complete our online intent form.  This gives the Office of International Programs (OIP) an idea of what you have in mind, and will allow us to begin the preliminary work of assisting you in designing a viable program.

The next step is the full proposal form, That should be submitted along with a budget breakdown of the program, using the Excel spreadsheet template

Proposal submission deadlines
We will be working on a transitional deadline schedule for the next academic year.  For programs being run during the 2012-13 academic year, the deadlines will be:

Workshops
The OIP will be offering two workshops for faculty and staff interested in learning more about the process and considerations for developing short-term study abroad programs for Ithaca College students.  We will be announcing the exact dates/times for these workshops in the near future via an Intercom announcement, and invite anyone who is interested to sign up for one of them.

In the meantime, we are happy to meet with faculty and staff individually to discuss questions or review the program design and proposal process.  Please contact Rachel Cullenen at rcullenen@ithaca.edu with questions or to schedule a time to meet.
