Maria DiFrancesco, Associate Professor, recently presented a refereed paper at the annual meeting of the Asociación Internacional de Literatura y Cultura Femenina Hispánica (AILCFH) in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
In her paper, “The Third Space of the Stage: Re-enacting Terror to Work Through Trauma in Paloma Pedrero’s Ana 11 de marzo and Ana Diosdado’s Harira,” DiFrancesco investigates the space of the stage and theatrical production as particularly helpful in working through the trauma that results from terrorist activities. Both Pedrero’s Ana 11 de marzo and Diosdado’s Harira treat the March 11th, 2004 Madrid train bombings which resulted in the death of 191 people and more than 1,800 others being wounded.
