In school districts across the state, teachers and administrators have been scrambling to understand the regulations behind the teacher evaluation system mandated by the state. While the teacher evaluation law requiring every school district to submit an annual professional performance review plan was passed in 2010, the regulations for its implementation were only approved in March of this year.

DR. HEATHER SHERIDAN-THOMAS, Assistant Superintendent of TST-BOCES presents “Understanding APPR (Annual Professional Performance Review)” on Monday, December 10, 2012 in Textor 102, Ithaca College from  6:10-7:10 p.m.  This lecture, sponsored by the Ithaca College Education Department and the All-College Teacher Education Committee (ACTEC), is open to all, and reservations are not required. Students interested or enrolled in teacher education programs, faculty and staff members involved in teacher education at Ithaca College and Cornell University, and local school and community-based educators are especially invited to attend.  Dr. Sheridan-Thomas is familiar with the new teacher evaluation review processes known as APPR and how this new requirement is being implemented in the local school districts.  Please join us to become more familiar with APPR and have the opportunity to ask questions of a local expert familiar with it.

Individuals with disabilities requiring accommodations should contact Diane Kinne at dkinne@ithaca.edu or (607) 274-1488. We ask that requests for accommodations be made as soon as possible.
