On November 29 the Departments of Occupational Therapy and Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology hosted a well-attended assistive technology workshop with RJ Cooper. Faculty members Lynn Gitlow (Occupational Therapy) and Tina Caswell (Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology) organized the event.

The hands on workshop took a unique approach to problem solving. RJ arranged a half-hour with each learner and tried to change that person's life right then and there. His goal was to have the learner do something new and exciting that they had not done before. The learners experiences ranged from increasing time-on-tasks significantly, using a switch in a completely new position, and a breakthrough in using pictures as communication tools.

RJ Cooper has worked with thousands of people from infants to adults with over 18 years experience. His expertise ranges from severe/profound to mild intellectual and learning disabilities.
