January Work/Life Line: Goal Setting

01/14/13

Goal setting can be a tricky and sometimes a scary thing to people.  With the beginning of the New Year, people are thinking about what goals they would like to accomplish throughout this upcoming year, and how they are going to do it.

The problem is that many people lose sight of those goals a few months into the year.  This could be because people’s goals were too unrealistic, not specific enough; they didn’t have a specific plan of accomplishing those goals, etc.

The key to planning a goal that is sure to be successful (or at least a learning/growing experience) is planning ahead and using the resources that are available for you.  Check out some of these links below to begin thinking about your New Year resolution or any goals that you may want to accomplish in 2013! They can help you figure out how to set a goal, how to plan steps to accomplish your goals, and how to stay on track all the way to success!

Don’t forget to come to the “Goal Setting” Lunch and Learn on Wednesday, January 23rd, in the Peggy R. Williams Center, HR Conference Room G-52 from 11:00am - 12:00pm. We’ll have Heather Vanca educate us on ways to set successful and effective goals for ourselves.  RSVPs are appreciated to 4-8000 or e-mail benefits@ithaca.edu.

Individuals with disabilities requiring accommodations should contact Katie Sack at ksack@ithaca.edu or (607) 274-1208. We ask that requests for accommodations be made as soon as possible.
