Join the Student United Way of Ithaca College!

Interested in joining a new committee on campus that is part of an international movement dedicated to advancing the common good through educational activities, fundraising efforts and volunteerism? IC Student United Way is looking for a group of dedicated students who are interested in giving back to the community by helping plan various events, fundraisers and donation drives. As a member of the ICSUW, you will help to plan our annual Family Carnival, an event that raises funds for our Fall allocations to local organizations

 Events (x2)—This position will be responsible for booking the location, time, date and other small details of the Family Carnival. They will work closely with the Presidents to insure that everything is going smoothly. They will also brainstorm ideas for other events throughout the semester.

Promotions—This person will create flyers for the events, draft the posts in Intercom and write press releases to be distributed to the local newspapers and schools. This person will work closely with United Way of Tompkins County’s branding guidelines.

Donations—For Family Carnival, they will be charged with finding pizza donations and creating raffle basket prizes.

Treasurer/Secretary—This person will take minutes and be responsible for keeping track of our funds for our annual allocations. They will be responsible for selling tickets at the events. 

Outreach--Every time we need a new committee member or need help from a professional (I.e a speaker for an event), they are responsible for compiling the applications, dispersing the information and reporting it to the Presidents.

Class Representatives—There will be one representative from each class who is responsible for finding volunteers for each event, coming up for creative ways to LIVE UNITED and help create challenges among the classes to raise awareness.

Allocations—This person will be very important during the fall semester. Every year, we allocate the funds received from Family Carnival to various group in the community. This person will be responsible for raising awareness of the campaign and working with the United Way of Tompkins County when applications begin to come in as well as coordinating meeting(s)with the committee submitted grant applications that support community non-profit organizations.

Please note that some positions require more work than others, but committee members should be prepared to assist other positions in their free time.

The Ithaca College Student United Way Committee will be a great opportunity for any student who is interested in advancing the common good through promotion of educational activities, student volunteering and supporting local non-profit organizations through student-led fundraising efforts and leadership roles.
