Brian DeMaris, the School of Music's Director of Opera and Musical Theater, will be perform and be interviewed on Bill Baker's "Live At Noon" radio program today on WCNY Classic FM 91.3, a New York State member-supported public broadcasting station.
The program will highlight DeMaris' involvement in the Syracuse Opera's upcoming production of "Sweeny Todd," opening Friday, Feb. 8. This classic musical thriller--performed in English--will run at the Carrier Theater in Syracuse, NY from Feb. 8 through Feb. 11.
Joining the "Sweeny Todd" production as Conductor, DeMaris is uniquely skilled in both opera and musical theatre. In addition to his role at IC, he is also serving as Music Director of the Mill City Summer Opera in Minneapolis and as Artist-Factulty of the Aspen Music Festival.
He has performed with New York City Opera, Florida Grand Opera, Glimmerglass Opera, Opera Theater of Saint Louis, American Opera Projects, American Lyric Theater, Ash Lawn Opera Festival, Music Saint Croix and the Israel Chamber Orchestra. He has appeared at the United Nations, the Aspen Music Festival, Boston’s Jordan Hall, New York’s Studio 54, Jazz at Lincoln Center, Symphony Space, Alice Tully Hall, Skirball Center, La Maison francaise, and in recitals, competitions, and master classes throughout the United States and abroad.
