Ash Wednesday begins the Season of Lent. Christians are marked on the forehead with the sign of the cross in ashes, acknowledging our human mortality. Christians are commissioned to receive the Gospel—the Good News of Jesus Christ.
Lent is the special period in preparation for the celebration of the passion, death and resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ—the Easter Triduum. Lent is a time of prayer and fasting and almsgiving—a time of reflection, repentance, reconciliation and renewal.
On this Wednesday, February 13, in Muller Chapel, the Ithaca College Catholic Community will celebrate the Liturgy of the Word with Imposition of Ashes at 8:00 AM and 5:00 PM, and the Liturgy of the Eucharist (Mass) with the Imposition of Ashes at 12:10 PM. All are welcome to join in the celebration of Ash Wednesday and in the practices of the Season of Lent.
