•What would happen if we shifted our thinking beyond stereotypical perspectives on men's sexuality to a conception that is more complex and nuanced?

Dr. Smiler's background in developmental and counseling psychology, youth, gender, and sexualities inform his new book, Challenging Casanova: Beyond the Stereotype of the Promiscuous Young Male (Jossey-Bass, 2013), based on data from his recent studies of youth and sexualities. He has published in journals like Sex Roles, Journal of Men’s Studies, Substance Abuse and Misuse, and the Journal of Sex Research, among others. He has held a post-doctoral fellowship at the University of Michigan (working with L. Monique Ward) and has worked as a therapist in several different settings. He has also taught in the Psychology Department at SUNY-Oswego.
