The Ithaca College Student Chapter of American Choral Directors Association (ACDA) won the ACDA Outstanding Student Chapter Award this past week.

The Chapter will receive the award at the National Convention in Dallas, TX in March. This is the fourth time that the Ithaca College Chapter has received this award, an unprecedented achievement among all college chapters.

The organization of young musicians presents workshops, assists at music events at Ithaca College and in the community, and runs a student composition competition, creating an opportunity for student conductors and composers to work together.

The executive board of the organization includes Katherine Gould, Miguel Torres, Rachel Mikol, Rebecca Saltzman, Joseph Pellittieri, and Kimberly Hawley. Janet Galván is the faculty advisor.

Founded in 1959, the American Choral Directors Association (ACDA) is a nonprofit music-education organization whose central purpose is to promote excellence in choral music through performance, composition, publication, research, and teaching. In addition, ACDA strives through arts advocacy to elevate choral music's position in American society.
