The First-Year Residential Experience, a collaborative effort between Student Affairs and Academic Affairs, seeks to provide energetic, student-orientated faculty with the ability to create unique learning opportunities for students outside of the classroom specifically around the Integrative Core Curriculum themes (https://www.ithaca.edu/icc/). This program is just one of several initiatives that will play a pivotal role in enhancing intellectual life in the Residence Halls.
Faculty Associates play a crucial role in helping students explore their integrated core theme by encouraging students to take part in organized academic theme based and civic engagement activities both within and outside of their residential community. Faculty Associates work in concert with the Residence Director (RD) and Resident Assistants (RA) to provide students with a comprehensive range of learning experiences.
Faculty Associates are appointed for a one-year term and receive a stipend of $1,100. Additionally, dining hall meal passes are provided for programming and informal connections with students.
To apply for a Faculty Associate position, please provide a brief statement via e-mail to Ron Trunzo (rtrunzo@ithaca.edu), Associate Director for Residential Life, by March 29th, outlining: your interest in the program; which theme or themes interest you most; and an event you might plan using one of the themes. Applications are welcome from all faculty. Once the application process in complete, applicants may be contacted for an informal interview.
