Project Look Sharp is a nonprofit, on-campus outreach organization that provides media literacy materials, curricula, and workshops to help educators integrate media literacy into classroom instruction and curricula. Join our educational team to help promote critical thinking and media literacy skills for the next generation. We host an average of 8 to 10 internships per semester, and we accept interns from all majors.  For more information about Project Look Sharp, visit our website.

See below for a listing of our Fall 2013 internship opportunities.

Website Resources Research
Work with Project Look Sharp’s lead author, Sox Sperry, to research and create resource lists for online primary source document archives in different subject areas such as science, English language arts and math. After an introduction to media literacy and constructivist media decoding, you will research and create linked lists that will be
published on the Project Look Sharp website. These resources will be made available to the tens of thousands of national and international educators that utilize our website’s educational materials.

Online Lesson Design
Work with Project Look Sharp’s lead author, Sox Sperry, to edit and re-format Project Look Sharp lessons for publishing and sharing on a new media literacy document commons wiki platform. Other tasks include researching processes for linking the lessons to the Common Core State Education Standards and researching formats for end user
rating activities to be implemented on the newly developed wiki platform.

Grant Writing
Work with Project Look Sharp’s lead author, Sox Sperry, on several grant proposal prospects for Project Look Sharp. This internship will provide an opportunity to experience the process of grant conception, research and writing for an educational nonprofit organization based at Ithaca College. The grant proposals will relate to issues and curricula materials focused on sustainability, social justice and environmental concerns.
