We are saddened to share the news of the death of John Fasolino '60, M.S. '62, a close friend of Bomber football who passed away on March 12, 2013, at the age of 80.
A captain of the Ithaca College football team during his time at IC, Fasolino was an All-East lineman and was also chosen for the All-Decade Football Team. After he graduated, he helped spearhead the establishment of the Dick and Helen Lyon Memorial Scholarship Fund and the Dick Lyon Award.
Fasolino was a veteran of the U.S. Marines and served during the Korean War. He worked for many years in the transportation industry and ran his own consulting company, John Fasolino and Associates. He also had worked as vice president of Braniff International, president of Bahama Cruise Line, and president of the Air Florida and Royale airlines. He also spent time in the public relations department of the University of Texas at Austin.
According to his obituary, "He spoke to the coach before and after every game to offer his support, win or lose, and faithfully watched every game online every Saturday during the season."
Fasolino was a regular supporter of Bomber football and had established the John A. Fasolino '60, M.S. '62 Football Endowment Fund. He was a member of the Ithaca College Athletic Hall of Fame, and a regular at Homecoming and other athletic events. Fasolino received the Volunteer Service Award from the Ithaca College Alumni Association Board of Directors in 2005.
A memorial service was held March 25 at St. Ann's Catholic Church in Coppell, Texas.
