Assessment Learning Community

The Center for Faculty Excellence seeks to establish an Assessment Learning Community. The ALC will be led by the faculty who participate. The intent of establishing the ALC is to improve how we incorporate evidence of learning into our courses. There is no assumption of prior knowledge or expertise in assessment, thus the ALC is open to all who are interested.

ALC participants will each receive a copy of Developing Outcomes-Based Assessment for Learner-Centered Education by Amy Driscoll and Swarup Wood. The authors present a flexible and adaptive approach to assessment in the book.

The initial meeting of the ALC will occur in April. The group will then decide on how often to meet, but it is hoped that the group will meet through the fall semester so that assessment ideas and strategies  can be tried in members’ courses. The hope is that Spring  2014 can be used for review of what was learned so we can plan for future semesters.

If you are interested, please let the Center know by April 5 at cfe@ithaca.edu.

Individuals with disabilities requiring accommodations should contact Laurie Wasik at wasik@ithaca.edu or (607) 274-3734. We ask that requests for accommodations be made as soon as possible.
