The “Grief and Loss When Working with Older People” workshop will be held Wednesday, April 10th, from 2 to 4:30 p.m. at the Country Inn and Suites, 1100 Danby Road, Ithaca (just 5 minutes south of the college).
Presenter: Kay Viggiani, M.S, R.N., CS certified in gerontology
Death is a natural progression from life. Most health and human service professionals who serve older people are exposed to both the physical and emotional effects of loss on a daily basis. Most are taught how to provide support to their clients, patients and families. However, professional caregivers may fail to recognize their own grieving processes.
This workshop will help healthcare providers understand and develop coping skills essential for their health and well-being.
IC faculty and students may attend at no charge, but must register. For more detailed information and to register visit, http://ithaca.edu/agingworkshops/.
Individuals with disabilities requiring accommodations should contact Denise Wells at 274-1607, or by email at dwells@ithaca.edu well in advance of the workshop.
