The end of the Spring 2013 semester has been a busy time for Dr. Carl Johengen, Assistant Professor of Voice (adjunct).
Dr. Carl Johengen, Assistant Professor of Voice (adjunct), guest conducted a concert sponsored by Le Moyne College in Syracuse on Saturday, April 27. The performance observed the 50th anniversary of the Catholic Church's Second Vatican Council liturgical reforms, and featured Johengen's award-winning cantata for chorus and orchestra, "Veni, Creator Spiritus".
On Sunday, April 28, Johengen led the Concert Choir of Wells College in Aurora in their annual spring concert. He is finishing his second year as Choir Director at Wells.
Ithaca audiences can enjoy a concert of American choral music along with live poetry reading by Frank Robinson and Jay Leeming on Sunday, May 12 at 4:00 p.m. Johengen will lead the Cayuga Vocal Ensemble in a performance called "Spring Writes: Poetry and Song" at First Presbyterian Church, corner of Court and Cayuga Streets in downtown Ithaca. The ensemble will perform choral settings of poetry by great American poets, including pieces by Randall Thompson, William Schuman, Elliot Carter, David Dickau, Giselle Wyers, and Carl Johengen. Dr. Johengen has served as Music Director of the Cayuga Vocal Ensemble since 2009.
