Julia Cozzarelli (Modern Languages and Literatures) presents paper at CEMERS conference

 Julia Cozzarelli, Associate Professor of Italian and Chair of Modern Languages and Literatures, presented a paper titled "Between Reality and Symbol: Fierce Dogs and Ferocious Wolves in the Decameron" at the Boccaccio at 700: Medieval Contexts and Global Intertexts conference.  The paper examined the role of animals in the writings of Giovanni Boccaccio within the context of a presumed shift from the allegorical models of the Middle Ages to the more naturalistic approaches of the early Italian Renaissance.  The study examined the topic using Dante's Commedia as a point of comparison.
