Steve Peterson, Director of Bands and Professor of Music, just returned from a successful week in Mainz, Germany, where he guest conducted the Honor Band for the Department of Defense Dependents Schools Music Festival. Steve Peterson, Director of Bands and Professor of Music, just returned from a successful week in Mainz, Germany, where he guest conducted the Honor Band for the Department of Defense Dependents Schools Music Festival.
Comprised of 145 students from 23 Department of Defense Dependents Schools across Europe and Bahrain, the annual festival was capped by a student concert last Thursday, April 25, at the historic Wiesbaden Kurhaus
The Honor Band and the voices of the Honor Chorus were selected from an audition base of 370 young musicians. Geoffrey Boers, director of Choral Activities at the University of Washington in Seattle, joined Peterson to conduct the Honor Chorus.
Peterson has also just started a two year term as president of the College Band Director's National Association. He has conducted throughout the United States, and in Canada, Ireland, the Republic of China,, Germany, Luxembourg, and Qatar.
