Student Employees perform an invaluable service to our campus with enthusiasm, dedication and initiative. Along with our annual celebration of appreciation, we honored one student employee with an Ithaca College Student Employee of the Year award. Each department on campus was allowed to nominate one student. Ithaca College employs over 3,000 student employees each academic year, so selecting only one student nominee was a very difficult task.
The student of the year award is based upon their outstanding qualities: reliability, quality of work, initiative, professionalism and uniqueness of contribution.
Congratulations to Tim Berry for winning Student Employee of the Year 2013!
Tim has worked in the Office of Campus Center and Event Services for over two years and is the Lead Event & Marketing Coordinator. Tim was nominated by Mark Warfle, Assistant Director of Event Planning and Operations.
Mark Warfle says “Timothy Berry stands alone. I have never had a student employee give so much back to their job as Tim.”
On his own initiative, Tim began writing an operations manual for the position which he completed. This manual is used on a weekly basis for all training of student Special Event Managers and Event & Marketing Coordinators.
Timothy did not stop there. He also developed a shared Google site that all of our staff can access from their smart phones. This site is the base for the office operations manual, student class schedules, PowerPoint training programs, and other various tools that allow our student employees access to important documents that enable them to perform their jobs.
