Ryan DeLany, M.S.
Born and raised in Syracuse, NY, Ryan has a B.A. in History from Le Moyne College and a M.S. in Education from SUNY Oswego. Ryan worked for the Office of Residence Life and Housing at Oswego, serving as a Graduate Resident Mentor. Following completion of his M.S., Ryan worked as a Retention Counselor at Paul Smith's College, assisting at-risk, probationary, and transfer students. He continued his work as an Academic Advisor at the Syracuse Campus of Bryant& Stratton College, where he was responsible for coordinating and expanding the First Year Experience (FYE) program. Ryan’s academic advising philosophy centers on proactive academic advising, to foster a student’s personal and professional growth.
Randy K. DeVett-McKeon, M.A.
Randy joins the IC Academic Advising Center with not one, but two Master’s Degrees. She earned a M.A. in Education from SUNY University at Albany, and a M.A. in Higher Education Administration from Syracuse University. Randy served as Assistant Director of Academic Advising and Outreach at Le Moyne College, working with First Year Programs (FYP) to coordinate the Choice Learning Community for exploring students. She also advised international students, students-at-risk, and transfer students. In fact, Randy successfully established Le Moyne’s chapter of the Tau Sigma National Honor Society for transfer students. Prior to her work in higher education, Randy spent over 20 years teaching K-12 Music, and directed the Drama program in the Utica Catholic schools.
Megan Gallagher, M.S.
Megan Gallagher, with a M.S. in Education Administration and Supervision, joins IC’s Academic Advising Center after serving as the Associate Director of Academic Advising and Special Programming in the Center for Academic Success at Saint Francis University in Pennsylvania. Megan brings multiple years of experience working with first-year students, transfer students, and exploratory students. Megan is excited to begin working with the students, faculty, and staff at Ithaca College.
Mary Lee (Mel) Jensen, M.S.
With a B.A. in History, an M.S. in Library Science from Drexel University, and over 25 years in higher education, Mel began her work with Ithaca College in Spring 2010, serving as Coordinator for the tutoring program in Academic Enrichment Services (AES). Prior to moving to Ithaca, Mel worked at Kent State University as an Assistant Professor and Head of Instructional Services for Libraries & Media Services. She was also involved in a major grant project centered on transitioning to college efforts. Mel has worked in the area of instructional development and assessment around information literacy issues at Lakeland Community College and Case Western Reserve University.
Kerry E. Spitze, M.S.
With a M.S. in Counselor Education, and a B.A. in Music (Vocal Performance), Kerry joins the IC Academic Advising Center with many years of academic advising experience. At Coastal Carolina University, Kerry advised first-year students, taught First Year Experience Seminars, and was the instructor for Principles of Peer Mentoring. At Northern Illinois University, Kerry provided academic advising for students in the College of Health and Human Services, while participating in transfer and new student orientation. Kerry continues to pursue her own studies as a doctoral student at Syracuse University. While there, she served as a Career Counseling Intern, assisting students with major and career exploration.
