Courtney Brown ’14, Chloe Wilson ’14, and Michele Lenhart, director of Student Leadership and Involvement, presented a workshop at the National Conference for College Women Student Leaders on May 31, 2013.
The session highlighted Ithaca College’s TIA Talks presentation series, which offered ideas to change attitudes and inspire action to eliminate the gender pay gap among new college graduates.
Ithaca College was one of nine institutions in the country to receive a grant this year from the American Association of University Women. The Office of Student Engagement and Multicultural Affairs and the Office of Career Services partnered to develop a speakers series that explored issues related to the earnings difference between women and men college graduates who are working full time one year after graduation. Attendees at the NCCWSL session appreciated Ithaca College’s innovative approach to educate students about the gender pay gap and to create a culture of change.
Lia Munoz ’16 and LuLu Helliwell ’16 also attended NCCWSL, which was held at the University of Maryland from May 29-June 1. Travel for this conference was funded in part by a grant from President Emerita Peggy Ryan Williams to develop women student leaders.
