The film features stories from teenage girls and provocative interviews with politicians, journalists, entertainers, activists and academics, like Condoleezza Rice, Nancy Pelosi, Katie Couric, Rachel Maddow, Margaret Cho, Rosario Dawson and Gloria Steinem. Miss Representation accumulates startling facts and statistics that will leave the audience shaken and armed with a new perspective.
Following the film (which runs 90 minutes), there will be a discussion about the film from the perspective of media literacy - the issues raised about media representations, the way in which those issues were presented, how the film was constructed, what (and who) was included and left out, impacts and opportunities for action. The discussion will be led by Cyndy Scheibe, Executive Director of Project Look Sharp and Professor, Dept. of Psychology.
