The School of Music welcomes Townsend Plant, who will begin as Director of Music Admissions and Assistant Dean for Preparatory and Summer Programs on Tuesday, September 3.
"I look forward to having a superbly talented individual who brings knowledge, experience and perspective to a key leadership position in the School of Music," Karl Paulnack, School of Music Dean, said Tuesday.
Coming to IC from Binghamton University, where he served as Assistant Provost for Admissions since last fall, Townsend also served as director of admissions for IU's Jacobs School of Music from 2008-2012. Prior to that, he led the Ithaca College School of Music admissions office from 2001-2008, and chaired the Independent Consortium on College Admissions in Music from 2009-2011.
Plant holds both a B.M. and M.M. from Ithaca College in classical guitar, and a Doctor of Musical Arts (D.M.A.) degree from the Eastman School of Music, where his research explored Spanish identity in the works of Joaquin Turina.
"After speaking with him," Paulnack added, "I know he is looking forward to 'coming home' again after what has been a productive and growthful time away."
Please join the School of Music in welcoming Mr. Plant back to the Ithaca College community!
