Students from Ithaca College's Park School of Communications will head to Washington, DC this weekend to cover 50th Anniversary of the March on Washington for NBC Nightly News, Weekend Edition, with Lester Holt. James A. Rada, associate professor in the Department of Journalism, will accompany the students as they interview participants and gather footage of the day's events at the Lincoln Memorial this Saturday, August 24. The students' work will air as part of NBC's Saturday evening newscast and will also be available through the NBC News website.
Rada will then return to D.C. with another group of students from the Park School on Wednesday August 28, for a second round of coverage of The March on Washington Commemorative events. This time, Rada and the IC News Crew will be covering the events for PBS Newshour online. Students work will be packaged and uploaded to the PBS website at a later date. August 28 is the actual 50th Anniversary of The March on Washington. President Obama is scheduled to appear along with former Presidents Clinton and Carter.
