It is with great sadness that I pass along the news to the Ithaca College community of the death of longtime School of Business professor, Eileen P. Kelly. Eileen, 57, lost her courageous battle with cancer on Monday, September 2.
Eileen began her tenure at Ithaca College in 1993 as Associate Professor of Management, where her specialties were in management, business ethics and employment law. She held many professional affiliations and received numerous honors and awards over her teaching career.
Eileen earned her B.S. in Accounting from the College of Steubenville and both her M.A. and Ph.D. from the University of Cincinnati. She started her life in academia in 1981 as Lecturer at University of Cincinnati, going on to positions at Creighton University and Louisiana State University in Shreveport, before coming to Ithaca College.
Professor Susan P.S. Rosenthal, Eileen’s colleague and friend, said, “Eileen not only taught ethics, she lived it. She was a true friend and a good person.”
Please join us in extending our heartfelt prayers to Eileen’s family, friends, and colleagues. Her valued contributions to the School of Business and to the college go beyond measure.
The School of Business is coordinating a remembrance/memorial on campus in the coming weeks.
A celebration of her life will take place in Steubenville, OH, her family home.
