Doing a Survey of Students or Alumni? Participate in IC's Survey Clearinghouse

It's easier than ever to survey students and alumni about their experiences at IC. This may be progress, but it means that our students and alumni are being surveyed more than ever and are suffering from serious survey respondent fatigue. When there are too many survey requests in their in-boxes, people simply stop participating, our response rates drop, and none of us gets the information we need.

One way to address this problem is by contributing to the IC Survey Clearinghouse.

The IC Survey Clearinghouse is an online repository of information about surveys administered to Ithaca College students and alumni. It is a resource for IC faculty and staff for information about what IC groups have been surveyed and what questions they‘ve been asked. By participating in the Survey Clearinghouse, we can share our collected data and hopefully cut down on the number of surveys our students and alumni receive. (Students often complain that they see the same questions on different surveys.)

In addition, the Clearinghouse can assist you by letting you know when other surveys are scheduled for your targeted group and help you pick times that don’t conflict.

Participation in the Survey Clearinghouse is voluntary and very easy. The more surveys we get into this repository, the more useful it will be to everyone. If you’ve conducted a survey within the past academic year – or if you’re planning a survey in the near future – please go to https://www.ithaca.edu/ir/icsrc/sclearinghouse/ to log it into the Clearinghouse.

The Clearinghouse is managed by the Office of Institutional Research and is accessible to staff and faculty. Have questions or need more information? Please contact Martha Gray or Govind Acharya at IRoffice@ithaca.edu or ext. 4-3164.
