The Model United Nations Team is currently recruiting new members! All are welcome to apply!
If you love discussing contemporary and historical political events, collaborating with diverse groups of people to achieve a common goal, and/or immersing yourself in unique cultural experiences and perspectives, then you should consider joining the Model UN team here at IC!
OUR Model UN team is comprised of a tight-knit group of students who participate in bi-annual conferences with other Model UN delegates from around the world. Before each conference, we train and research together, preparing ourselves to take on our roles in committee. While in committee, we represent a designated country or personality and work with other delegations to pass a resolution on a specific topic—from global migration to environmental degradation to nuclear war. Outside of committee, we learn about our assigned country through its food and culture. Our delegates have recently taken on countries like Iran and the Kingdom of Bhutan, as well as authoritative powers in Security Council and NATO simulations.
Interested students should pick up an application from Politics professor Juan Arroyo’s office, 316 Muller. Applications and brief writing sample are due back to 316 Muller by Monday 9/16! Interviews will run from 9/18-9/20.
*Applications can also be found on our page: https://www.ithaca.edu/hs/depts/politics/modelun/
